Doctors and Medical Staff Committing Sexual Assault

What is it lately, that some medical staff are being arrested for committing sexual assault? Last week there was an ER Tech, Hal Weston, arrested for allegedly taking advantage and sodomizing an unconscious male patient under anesthesia in Utah. Today in the news there was a doctor from Connecticut, Edwin A. Njoku, M.D., that was accused of committing sexual assault on a female patient and then trying to shut her up by bribing her.

I know there are laws in place for gynecologists to have an extra staff member in the room when they perform exams. Does this law apply to all doctors? You would think so. If this doctor is charged with the crime, should he also face repercussions for not having a 3rd party present when the examination took place?

I guess us women are going to have to start carrying pepper spray to our doctor's offices too! And no, I don't mean this as a joke, seriously.

Susan B. Anthony List, Writes Legislation that Hurts New Hampshire Women

New Hampshire is considering getting rid of laws that protect domestic violence victims and is also considering defunding Planned Parenthood. This is a double whammy against women in New Hampshire, especially for low-income women! These laws were written by the Susan B. Anthony List (not to be confused with other Susan B. Anthony organizations) and the Alliance Defense fund.

The House of representatives in the state voted 207 to 147, to prohibit funding from the state to any clinic that provides abortions, which includes Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood, besides performing abortions, also provides breast exams and pap smears among other services in various states. This breaks a forty year stance of New Hampshire to assist family planning services and abortions.

Today New Hampshire is also considering a bill that requires an officer to actually witness a domestic violence incident, in order for him or her to make an arrest. Even if the woman is bleeding or bruised up, the officer cannot take the abuser into custody, unless they come back with a warrant for the domestic violence. Along with this absurd law the state is also voting on a separate law that limits the grounds or reasons for which an officer can arrest an abuser.

Can you imagine what the real Susan B. Anthony, the women's civil rights leader, would have thought about this?

We get this question asked many times from people that visit our WomenOnGuard website. This is a very important question because you can be fined by a law enforcement officer for possessing a self defense spray if it is illegal in your state!

Fortunately pepper spray or mace is legal in most of the United States of America, including Hawaii and Puerto Rico. But there are some states that it is absolutely not allowed and some states that pepper spray and mace is allowed but with some restrictions.

It is forbidden to buy pepper spray or mace from our website in the State of New York. Which is not to say that you can't carry it. You can buy pepper spray from within the state, but not from another state such as ours in Florida! It is New York's way of keeping track of which citizens carry it. You can buy it in New York from a licensed pharmacist or a firearms dealer. However, it IS LEGAL to buy on our website, dog pepper spray and bear pepper spray for New York. 4 Detroit Women Found Dead in Car Trunks

Here we go again. Another serial killer, this time in Detroit. This person seems to be killing young women and apparently focusing on women that work for escort services. This time it is not related to a Craigslist ad, but rather to another classified advertising website called backpage.com. Two women were killed last week and two more where found dead this Christmas, making authorities think there is another serial killer out there. All four women were placed in car trunks and three of the four women were from an escort service advertised on backpage.com. These last two women where found in the trunk of a vehicle that was set on fire.

Seems like killing women who work as escorts or prostitutes is becoming a popular crime for serial killers now a days. Finding them on websites such as backpage.com makes them an easy target too! It wasn't too long ago when they arrested the Ohio prostitute killer and also the horrible findings of prostitute's bodies in New York's Long Island Beach. Lets just hope that whoever is committing these crimes is captured immediately. The sooner they arrest this murderer the more it might discourage others from imitating him.

FBI Definition of Rape will Change

Many sexual assault cases have been dismissed by courts because of technicalities dealing specifically with the words used to define rape. This will hopefully be fixed with a new definition of rape that will be voted upon in December and hopefully will replace the present definition.

The present FBI definition goes like this: "carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will". The new definition is going to be worded in a more detailed fashion. It will state: "Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim".

This new FBI definition is being considered, thanks to Carol Tracy, the executive director of Women's Law Project. Carol Tracy has been on the FBI's case to change their definition of rape for 10 years!

This is unbelievable! Why doesn't Kansas City just get rid of their police force, while they are at it. Here we are nationally trying to get rid of violence in our streets and Kansas City decides to promote violence by not protecting women that are victims of domestic violence. Now every wife abuser and rapist has a free ticket to commit violence toward women and no one will be there to protect these victims. Domestic violence is most likely to increase because of the unemployment issue. This decision to not protect domestic violence victims is inexcusable. SHAME on Kansas City!

Domestic Violence Victim Freed from Prison

It's a shame that this woman was in prison for 26 years, simply because she was defending herself from her abusive husband! This it why so many women feel trapped in cases of domestic violence. They call authorities for help and all they get in response from authorities is "We can't interfear with domestic affairs, between a man and his wife".

Tennessee prison frees former death row inmate
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A woman who spent 26 years on death row and came within two months of being executed was freed Friday from a Tennessee prison.

Gaile Owens, 58, of Memphis was released Friday and greeted by a small group of supporters outside Tennessee's Prison for Women.

She was sentenced to die for hiring a stranger to kill her husband in 1985, but her death sentence was commuted to life in prison last year and she won parole last week.

Supporters had urged her release, claiming she was a battered wife who didn't use that defense because she didn't want her young sons to know about the physical and sexual abuse.

The first thing she did on leaving the prison was to hug one of those sons, Stephen Owens, who is now grown and has children of his own.

Owens issued a written statement and then immediately left the prison.

"I'm looking forward to leading a quiet, private but productive life," the statement said. She said she wanted to get to know her son and the grandchildren born while she was in prison.

Her son said he was looking forward to spending the rest of the day with his mother.

Owens' sentence was commuted to life in prison in July 2010 by former Gov. Phil Bredesen. He acknowledged the abuse claims of her supporters but gave a different reason for his decision to spare her life. Bredesen said prosecutors had agreed not to seek the death penalty if Owens pleaded guilty but then put her on trial when her co-defendant wouldn't accept the plea bargain.

At the time she was imprisoned, a life sentence meant serving 30 years and she was eligible to be released now because of good conduct.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

It's a shame that there is a month of the year, October, just for this cruel domestic violence issue. It's a reminder that cruelty towards women is not just in nations across the Atlantic ocean. The USA is also on the list of countries that treat some women like dirt. The singer TRACY CHAPMAN comes to mind. She wrote a song in 1983 that exemplifies domestic violence and how authorities usually deal with it.

Prisoners on Death Row

There's a lot of news lately about criminals in prison and especially prisoners on death row. Much of the information is whether executing a death row prisoner is morally acceptable.

Nobody want's to be accused of killing or executing someone, not even if that person is a prison guard who's job is to ready a prisoner for his death. Many people have mixed feelings about this, including myself. People sometimes think that there is only 2 solutions to the problem, either put the prisoner to death or keep him or her alive until they naturally die incarcerated.

There is and always has been an alternative to this and it is called; LABOR! What ever happened to the practice of having prisoners work or labor for us? Prisoners now are provided with EXPENSIVE GYM EQUIPMENT, to work out with, rather than doing hard work for our society! Lets make them do some physical labor to earn their keep! We don't need to buy them treadmills. Death row prisoners and for that matter regular felons, should help with cleaning up our highways, rivers, railways or whichever work idea a national prison would choose, to help our infrastructure. Heck, let them start installing solar panels! With today's technology, I'm sure there would be no issues with escape attempts.

Instead of executing prisoners, lets make them work for us TAX PAYING AMERICANS!

What is a Flash Mob, you ask? It's when young people organize thru the internet or cell phones, to meet at a certain place and cause destruction or injury. There seems to be a growing trend for this in the United States and in other countries. Young people rioting or going into retail stores and destroying or stealing everything in site! This is all done just for the fun of it or to get some attention.

We believe that this new Flash Mob phenomena started by observing how the Egyptians took control of their country by connecting thru social media or internet and cell phones. But what actually helped a country out of a Dictatorship is now becoming a trend to do the opposite; cause harm and vandalize legit establishments. You could see examples of this violence when London was the stage for these criminal young hoodlums, last week. Earlier this week there was violence in 4 San Francisco subway stations and recently the 7-Eleven store in Maryland, where 28 teenage members of a Flash Mob, came in and pushed items off the shelves and also robbed products. All of this violence by Flash Mobs was planned thru cell phone contact and internet social media communication.

This is a very worrisome situation that can easily escalate. Some cities in the United States have been forced to place curfews against teenagers being out and about after a certain time of the night. The problem though, is that these Flash Mobs can happen at any time of the day. It seems like we are going to need more police officers to patrol our streets and include some hefty fines for those teenagers who decide to gather and commit these violent crimes.

Safety Tips for Preventing Crime

Avoid dark and empty places, like alleys.
Avoid walking alone at night, have someone you know accompany you.
Never drink from an opened container at bars or parties. Get your own drink and keep an eye on your drink.
Never accept a ride from a stranger. Your mom told you this and it holds true for preventing crime as an adult too.
Meet someone new? Introduce him to your friends. Mention his hair color or eyes, any features that can be remembered by your friends. This can be crucial information if a crime is committed.
No security system... but have a car? Keep your car alarm by your nightstand. If you hear something suspicious, let your car alarm double as a home alarm. The whole neighborhood will be listening! (First test your alarm from your bedroom, to make sure it reaches your car.)
Look around and inside your parked car, before entering it.
If you live in an apartment complex: Check your mail in a well lit area or wait till in the morning to check it. Take your trash out at night if the area is well lit or wait until the morning. If you have a dog, take him or her with you for your nightly tasks. Good exercise for your pet too!
If you take public transportation, make friends with women that you usually see on a regular basis. This makes for a good buddy system.

What is a Stun Gun?

Many people don't know what a stun gun is. Some people think it might be a firearm, others think it is just another term for a Taser. Many also confuse it with being some sort of dart drugging weapon... None of these conclusions are correct!

A stun gun is basically a self defense weapon that is non-lethal and that you can use against an attacker. When you touch a person with a stun gun, it will transfer electricity through their body. As a general rule, a one-half second contact can repel and startle the attacker, giving some pain and muscle contraction. One to two seconds can cause muscle spasms and a dazed mental state. Over three seconds can cause loss of balance and muscle control, mental confusion and disorientation. Notice that we mentioned "touch a person". This is important because you have to be at arms length in order to actually use this weapon against an attacker. Stun guns are not like Tasers, which shoot electrical probes 15 feet away and actually reach an attacker, like police use... Both a stun gun and a Taser disable an attacker by using electricity.

While a Taser can reach attackers at a distance with electricity, they can be costly to some people, therefore, a stun gun is the next best thing to electrically shock an attacker with! Was the Woman Raped or Sexually Assaulted?

In the past few years, reporters of crime have been using more and more the term sexual assault rather than rape. Why is that? I always thought it meant the same thing... Or at least that is what most of us think. Is sexual assault more of a court term? I'm not sure why or exactly where this preference to use the term sexual assault came from.

The term sexual assault sounds less violating than rape. I believe that it makes the act seem less invading and less horrible! Using the term sexual assault is like calling it, a sexual incident. It doesn't represent the magnitude of the crime. Have you ever noticed that news reporters also use it with the term rapist? Now why don't they use the words, sexual assailant, for consistency sake? If an attacker is as bad as having to call him a RAPIST, then they should call what he did a RAPE. Is the attack itself, not as bad as the attacker?

Well there you have it. I had to vent. Women are getting raped everyday in this country by rapists and it should be reported as such. It is a devastating attack that sometimes ends up in murder. Making it sound less horrible will not help from stopping it.

This post will try to explain as simply as possible, the basics about pepper spray.

To start, most pepper spray consists of a percentage of a very hot pepper substance called OC or oleoresin capsicum. Most brands carry 10% of this substance. Some have up to 17% concentration! Fox is Canceling America's Most Wanted, Big Mistake!

Mark McGoldrick, another criminal caught recently because a viewer of America's Most Wanted, recognized him. SUCH A SHAME that this useful program that ACTUALLY CATCHES CRIMINALS is being canceled. I guess ratings are more important than lives!

The announcement was made by Fox Broadcasting Company on May 17th. It is hard to believe that a program which delivers such useful information to the public, is going to be canceled. Even if the ratings were down, America's Most Wanted was offering a service to the public. At least to the ones who cared about getting rid of criminals on the streets. Fox is doing a huge disservice to it's viewers by canceling America's Most Wanted, but I'm sure another network will pick them up. As a matter of fact, I think they would be a good program addition to the Public Broadcasting System or PBS. Seems like they are the only ones that embrace quality over ratings.

Fox canceling America's Most Wanted is wrong, it deserves to be aired to the general public. I hope they stay on the air, somehow, for the sake of all American's safety!

Pennsylvania Man commits suicide and takes his wife and 2 daughters with him.

Here we go again, another LOOSER, this time in Pennsylvania, that feels he has to take his entire family with him! Some people say that men that kill their families and commit suicide, do it because they don't want their family to suffer economically in this cruel world... This is far from the truth. These men are just weak. They can't take what life throws at them and just give up and drag their family in with them. They are not only weak but also have big egos, to think that they are the only ones that can take care of their family. They assume that their wives cannot get help or are not capable of taking matters into her own hands, if need be.

This trend has got to stop! We no longer live in a patriarchal society. Women and children shouldn't be put to death, just because the husband is having a tough time. When was the last time you heard of a woman taking her husband and children's lives, just because she thought there was no future for them? This mentality is very archaic and has no place in today's society. Entire families do not have to die, because one of them is weak and has a huge ego.

The maid who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the IMF chief, of sexual assault, is in hiding. His wife has been aware of his female encounters, yet always forgives him and mentions that they are no different from other couples that have similar issues. She states that he is innocent in this latest fiasco.

Sexual assault victims are many times accused of asking for it or of consenting to have sex. In this case there is also the question of it being a conspiracy... We will have to wait for this case to go to court, before we know what really happened. Is the maid a sexual assault victim, or is she a conspirator?

'East Coast Rapist' suspect heads to court

Man suspected of sexually assaulting at least 17 women from Virginia to Rhode Island

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The man suspected of sexually assaulting at least 17 women from Virginia to Rhode Island over 12 years is scheduled to appear in court in Connecticut.

Authorities say Aaron Thomas, an unemployed truck driver, is expected to appear Monday in New Haven Superior Court.

Police say DNA confirmed that Thomas is the man law enforcement dubbed the "East Coast Rapist."

Thomas tried to hang himself Saturday in his cell and was returned to jail after a brief hospital stay.

The East Coast Rapist is wanted for 17 rapes and other attacks in Connecticut, Maryland, Rhode Island and Virginia that began in 1997. The cases were linked by DNA.

It is not clear if Thomas has a lawyer.

Contrary to what the NRA mentions, it is actually making our country far more dangerous than we want to admit. Why? Because arming citizens with firearms is the wrong approach. Other countries have taken a different approach toward deadly crime by taking away firearms from their citizens. The results of this action have been astonishingly positive in the number of deaths related to guns. The NRA refers to laws that are archaic by nature, in order to justify American's carrying guns. Unlike the Wild, Wild West, today's civilization is perfectly able to deal with differences amongst it's citizens by going to courts where laws are enforced.

The United Kingdom does not allow it's citizens to carry firearms. Most of their police officers, except for a few, don't even carry guns! United Kingdom police officers rely mostly on Tasers for controlling crime. Nightclub Safety for Single Women

Saturday night and you're all dressed up to have a good time at your favorite nightclub! You plan to meet some friends or perhaps get to know some new people. It will be a great evening if you keep your head on straight and practice some common sense safety measures.

To start off, one of the best safety practices when single women go to a nightclub is to go with a friend or friends. Not only will you be safer, but you can select who the designated driver will be. Also an important advantage of having a friend go with you is that if you meet someone, you can introduce them to your friend. This is good practice, in case for some reason you disappear, your friend would remember the person's face and their name. It might be nice if you add some comments while you introduce them, perhaps what wonderful eyes or hair they have. Mentioning something that describes their appearance is important. "Where are you from?", is a good conversation piece too! Plus, never leave a nightclub with a person you just met! If you go alone to a nightclub, make sure to introduce yourself to several people.

If you decide to have an alcohol drink at the nightclub, keep date rape drugs in mind. Go directly to the bartender for your drink and watch him or her pour it. Always keep your eyes on your drink! If a waiter brings you a drink, make sure that it is in a closed container. Remember to request a closed container when ordering your drink. Single women should NEVER drink from an open punch bowl, either!

If you go to a nightclub on your own, and have been drinking, ask the bartender to call for a taxi. Never drink alcohol and drive. If the nightclub is far from your home, perhaps the taxi can take you to a nearby hotel. The next morning, you can get a ride to your car and drive safely home. Better yet, if you know you are going to drink alcohol, just take a taxi to the nightclub and a taxi back home! Or even some sort of public transportation, to and from the nightclub.

Teenager Beaten by Houston Police Officers

It happened last March and it was captured by a surveillance camera. The video showed Chad Holley, a 15 year old teenager who was being chased, he then gave up and laid on the ground with his hands behind his head. Houston Police that had been chasing him, went toward him and proceeded to inflict what would be classified as police brutality. Chad Holley was beaten, kicked and punched in the video by several police officers for around a minute and a half! This Houston Police brutality was carried out after he was handcuffed and still laying on the ground.

A judge that was overlooking the teenager's court case, requested the video not to be shown to the public. Lawyers argued that the officers would not get a fair trial... But the video was released today by a community activist who was outraged by the abused teenager.

The public should have been able to see this abuse done to Chad Holley by the Houston Police. The court could very well tell, who the kickers and punchers were and who weren't abusive. The judge and police's lawyers had no right in keeping this from the public. In no way would making the video public, jeopardize which police officers were innocent. This proves that the lawyers probably wanted to get them ALL off the hook for brutality!

They have had news conferences in regards to this rapist and mentioned various locations in Detroit where the rapist has attacked. Police are also advising women that if attacked, to call 911 immediately and to keep in mind, not to shower, brush their teeth or clean any part of their body, including under their nails. This will preserve DNA evidence of the rapist.

Party or Nightclub Safety Tips

Never share drinks.

Always introduce a stranger you just met, to your friends at a party or nightclub.

It's not enough that Yale University pledges encouraged rape last October by chanting, "no means yes, yes means anal", now the University of Notre Dame prefers to hide rape or sexual assault charges. The Notre Dame football game MUST go on!

Elizabeth "Lizzy" Seeberg committed suicide 9 days after the rape, yet the accused football player was allowed to play, while she overdosed on prescription medication. Notre Dame didn't even mention to the St. Joseph County Police Department, that was investigating the case, that she had reported a sexual assault.

What does that say about our society? What morals are we teaching our college sons & daughters about sexual assault?

Yale University Pledges Encouraged Rape

This is one of the most prestigious universities in the world, yet Yale University, had a fraternity pledge that chanted, "no means yes, yes mean anal". A chant that was one of several they shouted which trivialized raping women. The fraternity's potential pledges, Delta Kappa Epsilon's Phi chapter (DKE), shouted these scary rape hinting chants in the middle of the night. To make matters worse they did this, right in front of where all the first year female students are housed! These women already have the odds against them. Statistics have shown that university or college women are 4 times more likely to get raped.

This is not acceptable. The members of DKE and it's pledges should be punished severely. Just having a forum, is not enough! Yale University should set an example and not let this slip by so easily. Yale University is suppose to have high standards in education as well as conduct. This is an institution where many of our future leaders will come from. What kind or morals will they spread on the future of our nation?

Domestic Violence Project Receives Pepper Spray Donation from Women On Guard™

Women On Guard™ donated pepper spray to the domestic violence UnderWings Project in Cleveland, Ohio.

Pompano Beach, FL, October 18th, 2010. The self defense products website, Women On Guard™ has donated pepper spray to the UnderWings Project after they requested to be a recipient of the on going donations that WomenOnGuard.com started back in 2007. The UnderWings Project is a two sister joint effort to find preventative measures to save the lives of women caught-up in the cycle of domestic violence. Thanks to The Allstate Foundation, they received their first major grant and now are able to proceed with their Employment, Retention, and Wellness Clinic.

Susan Eaton, one of the owners of Women On Guard mentioned, “It’s a shame that this topic comes up only when a famous person or celebrity is involved in it. Mel Gibson’s abuse toward his wife rose national exposure to this problem. Unfortunately it happens every day to many women in this country and around he world.” Susan stressed that it also doesn’t just hurt women but if they have children, it affects them as well. She also emphasized that a restraining order against the abuser, such as Mel Gibson, many times doesn’t work, and sometimes the women end up being killed.

Pompano Beach, FL, August 2, 2010. Women On Guard™ is an e-commerce website that sells self defense products such as pepper spray, mace, tasers, stun guns and personal alarms. The owners of WomenOnGuard.com, Susan Eaton and Martha Z. Martinez, regularly make pepper spray donations to women’s crisis centers or similar causes around the country. The mission of the Crisis Center of Northern New Mexico is to impact the cycle of domestic violence by providing crisis intervention with short and long-term programs in the service areas of Rio Arriba, Los Alamos and Northern Santa Fe counties of New Mexico. They provide a safe haven (shelter) for persons who have sustained physical, sexual, psychological violence or a combination thereof without prejudice to age, race, creed, gender, color or sexual preference. The Crisis Center also provides counseling, advocacy, education and other services as needed to accomplish the mission. It also provides public education and information relating to the nature of physical, sexual and psychological domestic violence.

Susan Eaton, one of the owners of Women On Guard, expressed her concerns about violence during the summer months. She mentioned, “The rate of sexual assaults unfortunately increases when many people take time off from work or school. This is mostly due to more social interaction, be it at parties, walking down city streets while enjoying the weather or just at a barbecue in a park. Many times there is alcohol involved that result in people making silly decisions, like leaving a party with a complete stranger or accepting a drink that contains a date rape drug.”

Women On Guard also wanted to make sure that people, especially women, take precautions during this summer. Below is a short list of some of their safety tips:

Always be aware of your surroundings.
Never walk alone at night, no matter how safe it may seem. Ask someone to go w/you.
Exercise routines such as walking or running outdoors, should have a variable schedule, don’t be too predictable for a potential attacker.
Always get your own drink at parties or bars. Watch it being poured, keep an eye on it and never leave your drink unattended. Don’t drink out of a punch bowl. When ordering beer, it’s best to get it in a sealed bottle.
Never accept to leave a nightclub or party with a stranger. If you are intoxicated, have the barkeeper or host of the party, call for a taxi.
Keep in mind that intoxicated individuals are potential victims for attackers. Criminals take advantage of people who have their guard down.

Domestic Violence Among Illegal Immigrants

With all the talk about illegal immigrants crossing our borders lately, specifically in Arizona, it was brought to my attention the dilemma of illegal domestic violence victims trying to get help. An illegal immigrant woman that has been beaten by her husband cannot go to the police for help. Arizona law would allow police officers to question a woman's residential status. This in turn would get her deported and the man that abused the woman would probably disappear from Arizona and go to another state!

How does this sit with you? Is she entitled to be protected by our police, even though she doesn't pay taxes? Many illegal immigrants get medical care in this country, just as legal citizens do. Would this be considered a medical emergency? Should illegal immigrant domestic violence victims be helped?

Domestic Violence and Police Brutality

What does domestic violence have in common with police brutality? Unfortunately too much! Lately there have been cases of domestic violence being committed by police officers against their wives. In New York there will be a trial soon regarding a wife whose husband was a police officer who frequently aimed a gun at her. The last time, he did this, she got a hold of another of his guns and beat him to it by shooting him to death.

We all hear more often than not how women stick with their abusive husbands and how hard it is for these women to leave, especially if they have children. Well, it's probably twice as hard to leave your abusive husband if he is a cop and has control of his weapon 24 hours a day! I knew of a prison guard who abused 3 of his wives. Luckily they were able to leave him! Which makes me think that this is just not limited to police, but also to any men that wear a uniform and carry a gun!

Another issue that is against abused wives of police officers is that fellow police officers side with him. If a wife calls for help, one of her husband's buddies answers to her desperate call for help. We all know how cops cover each other's backs. This makes it relatively impossible for the wife to get police protection and even worse, an officer to help her case against her abusive husband in court. This is another way of police brutality, not in the streets but in our courtrooms.

Domestic violence is a national problem and if it is committed by a cop against his own wife, it's much worse! Special attention must be taken for women in this situation. Courts need to somehow change procedures so that domestically abused women married to police officers, get a fair trial.

Student's sexual assault awareness t-shirts confiscated by Principal

A few students recently hand made some t-shirts expressing that sexual assault was wrong. The students wore their t-shirts to school, just like any other shirts kids wear for a good cause. Well, that didn't sit right with the Acting Associate Principal of Mosinee High School in Mosinee, WI!

Below is a quote by the Associate Principal:
"I’m all for educating students on this topic, but I think it should be done during the month of awareness using pamphlets and fliers from an established organization. That would add some substance to the cause." (as quoted in the Wausau Daily Herald)

The student's t-shirts were confiscated by the Principal and they were told by him that they would get their t-shirts back, on the last day of school.

Lets analyze this for a moment. According to this mentality, we are only to wear breast cancer t-shirts in October, or no drunk driving t-shirts in December? Do women only get breast cancer in October? Do drunk drivers only drive in December? We know that every 2 seconds, someone in this country gets sexually assaulted! Most t-shirts have statements on them. That is why we like wearing them... It's not like these student's shirts contain pornographic images!

The only time this behavior from a Principal would be acceptable, is if the school was private and it had a policy whereas students were required to wear uniforms.

Mississippi State University Sexual Assault

It happened early Saturday morning around 4 AM. A female student was sexually assaulted while walking to her apartment in McKee Hall, a student housing building. The woman was threatened with a weapon and raped by a black male between 5'7" and 6' tall. MSU Police did not mention what type of weapon the attacker used or if the sexually assaulted student suffered other injuries. More details about the sexual assault and the attacker will hopefully be disclosed soon. Describing the rapist will definitely help prevent future rapes on campus.

Mississippi State University officials are informing students to take precautions while walking through campus in the dark. MSU Police are also letting students know that escorts are available 24-7. They also reminded them to be aware of their surrounding and to notify MSU Police of any suspicious activities. This is not the first sexual assault occurrence at Mississippi State University.

Don't Use Wasp Spray for Self Defense!

It was brought to our attention while Tweeting, that many people have been using wasp spray as an alternative to pepper spray, for personal or self defense. This is a very dangerous idea! Wasp spray is a poisonous product and it has not been tested on humans. All insecticides are forced by the government to include in their labels, "It is a violation of federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling". Wasp spray contains a poison called Pyrethrin. Poisons can damage or hurt a person permanently or even worse, kill them! Pepper spray has only a temporary effect on a person. Think about it, would you rather eat a hot pepper or poison?

Never spray a person with wasp spray in self defense, or any other poisonous substance! Use pepper spray instead.

Woman threatens Wendy's employee with stun gun

A woman from Daytona Beach got into an argument over an order she had placed at a Wendy's drive-thru today. Afterwords, she got out of her car and went inside the Wendy's establishment and started chasing the employee with a pink stun gun! She also had another lady that was in the car with her. This second woman followed her into Wendy's too and was cheering her on. Both ladies left Wendy's when a manager threatened to call the police on the woman carrying the stun gun. Both ladies were tracked down by police. One woman was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and the other one for being a principle to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

This sort of thing shouldn't be going on. Women should use their stun guns for self defense ONLY! Actions such as this will only make it harder for individuals to carry non-lethal weapons. We are glad that the women where charged by the police with aggravated assault, but we don't agree that it was with a deadly weapon.
