Use Your Car Alarm for Home Security!

You don't have a home security system? No problem! Just remember one thing when you drive home tonight, take your car keys to bed with you!

It's as simple as that. If you hear something suspicious or an intruder late at night, simply turn on your car alarm. It will start beeping and alert the entire neighborhood! Burglars don't like all the racket and attention and will simply turn around and leave. The alarm will continue to sound until the battery of your car dies or you turn the alarm off. Test it first from your bedroom, to make sure the alarm signal reaches your car!

One more thing that should be kept in mind, if you have a car alarm. Many times women and men are assaulted while they are walking toward their vehicle in parking lots. This is another situation when it is convenient to set off your car alarm. It would make people notice your car and you!

Stun guns are self defense weapons that consist of applying an electrical shock to an assailant. You have to be at arms length to use a stun gun on a person. Some stun guns are disguised to look like cell phones or pens. Stun devices also come in baton and flashlight form. They vary in voltage from 200,000 to 3 million volts and can be battery operated or rechargeable. Many stun guns have holsters.

Personal Alarms, Self Defense Products

These panic, siren sounding products are an immediate and universal call for help. They are handy when you are out and about and need help. Personal alarms are either battery powered or air pressured. Some health care and nursing homes use them as well as military and prison guard personnel. Some personal alarms have flashlights and keychains, others have features that allow using them on doors or windows. Many have a clip attached to a cord that can be placed on your wrist or belt. If someone tries to take it from you, it will set off the alarm.

Pepper Spray, Self Defense Products

The simplest and historically one of the oldest self defense products ever used for personal safety is pepper spray. A defense spray mostly contains OC or Oleoresin Capsicum (a derivative of Cayenne peppers). When someone gets sprayed in the face with it, their eyes, nose throat and lungs will burn and become swollen. The capillaries of the eyes will dilate and make the person close their eyes. They will also have a hard time breathing since it also inflames the respiratory organs, but not entirely blocking the breathing. Effects can last anywhere between 20 to 90 minutes. Pepper spray comes in stream, gel, foam and fog form and in various sizes and shapes. Some can look like a pen or a gun and most have keyrings attached. The reach for pepper spray varies. It could be anywhere from 6 to 25 feet, depending on which model you get.
