April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) announced again, that "April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month". This annual project not only reminds us of the past victims of assault but also encourages people to be more aware of their surroundings and to be proactive in regards to their safety. In 2010, due to the overwhelming rate of college sexual assaults, the NSVRC is focusing on college students. According to the center, one in every five college women will experience a sexual assault by the time she graduates. Besides the NSVRC work, many other companies or organizations, mark this month w/conferences, self defense classes and donations to organizations that help victims of sexual assaults.

WomenOnGuard.com donated to NSVRC, this month, and encourages others to do the same. Donations can be monetary or by helping an organization such as a women's crisis center near you.
