Don't Use Wasp Spray for Self Defense!

It was brought to our attention while Tweeting, that many people have been using wasp spray as an alternative to pepper spray, for personal or self defense. This is a very dangerous idea! Wasp spray is a poisonous product and it has not been tested on humans. All insecticides are forced by the government to include in their labels, "It is a violation of federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling". Wasp spray contains a poison called Pyrethrin. Poisons can damage or hurt a person permanently or even worse, kill them! Pepper spray has only a temporary effect on a person. Think about it, would you rather eat a hot pepper or poison?

Never spray a person with wasp spray in self defense, or any other poisonous substance! Use pepper spray instead.

Woman threatens Wendy's employee with stun gun

A woman from Daytona Beach got into an argument over an order she had placed at a Wendy's drive-thru today. Afterwords, she got out of her car and went inside the Wendy's establishment and started chasing the employee with a pink stun gun! She also had another lady that was in the car with her. This second woman followed her into Wendy's too and was cheering her on. Both ladies left Wendy's when a manager threatened to call the police on the woman carrying the stun gun. Both ladies were tracked down by police. One woman was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and the other one for being a principle to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

This sort of thing shouldn't be going on. Women should use their stun guns for self defense ONLY! Actions such as this will only make it harder for individuals to carry non-lethal weapons. We are glad that the women where charged by the police with aggravated assault, but we don't agree that it was with a deadly weapon.

Summer Safety Tips

Home Safety Tips
Many people take vacations in the summer. Houses or apartments are left alone and burglars see this as a chance to break in and steal. Make sure your home appears lived in by having your lights turn on and off during the evenings. Invest in a digital timer or have a trustworthy neighbor turn them on. Some people have a relative house sit their home. If you normally have the drapes or shades open, leave them that way. If you have a garage, make sure that it is locked. Have your mail held at the post office or again, have a neighbor get it for you. This also applies to newspaper deliveries. Let your local police station know you are going to be away. Many police stations have time for their officers to occasionally patrol your property. Don't leave a message on your answering machine that you are going to be out for a few days!

Pool or Beach Safety Tips
Always have an adult keep an eye on children while in a pool or at the beach. When at the beach, not only watching kids swimming is important, but also making sure you keep an eye on them while they are walking or running about. Many children get kidnapped on beaches. If you have a pool and a small child, you might also consider investing this summer in a pool alarm. It will detect when a substantial splash occurs. These alarms have a remote receiver that you can have inside your home. It will let you know, while your are inside, if someone or something goes in your pool.

Summer Cookouts
Many people know what precautions must be taken when you have an open fire or barbecue. One thing that has caught the attention lately by the medical field is the amount of deaths caused by children chocking on HOT DOGS! Please make sure that small children have their hot dogs cut up in small pieces. We know this is a given, but with all the fuss that goes into a family picnic, the obvious, sometimes goes unnoticed! Same applies to grapes, cherries, etc.

Self Defense Weapons Tips
Yes, these can also be an issue if you are not careful. First of all, never let a child under 18 carry a self defense product. Keep these products away from a child's reach. Second, make sure you never leave pepper spray or mace in a heated environment such as a hot summer car. Pepper spray inside it's canister can expand and burst open and cause a HOT mess! Third and lastly, keep in mind that if you are going to board a plane, you cannot carry pepper spray on board. If you are going to fly internationally, remember that in many countries, it is illegal to carry pepper spray, stun guns or Tasers!

America's Most Wanted Investigates West Palm Beach County's Serial Rapist

Since April, 2009, there have been 3 women brutally raped and beaten in West Palm Beach County, FL. All 3 rapes are connected through DNA. The most recent case took place last January and police say that this rapist seems to have a time frame pattern and they think he is due to rape again soon. These rapes caught the attention of America's Most Wanted TV show and they are starting to investigate these rapes more closely.

This serial rapist's last attack was in Lake Worth, last January. He also raped a women in West Palm Beach in August, 2009 and in April, 2009 in Jupiter. The West Palm Beach victim actually died later of a heart attack.

According to police, the serial rapist actually bites his victims too, besides raping them. Not only that, but he tears flesh off as he bites, like a ragging beast! All 3 of these women had a tremendous degree of violence inflicted upon them. It is also important to mention that the rapist apparently does not have a particular type of woman he attacks. All 3 women were very different from each other. The rapist is also believed to have a physically intensive job and is likely to be involved in contact sports.

America's Most Wanted TV show's segment is expected to be aired in a few weeks.

Women who wear tight jeans, can't claim rape?

A man in Australia was found not guilty of raping a woman, by a court jury recently. The jury stated that he could not have taken the victims jeans off by himself, therefore she must have helped and the rape was consensual. The woman was apparently wearing very tight jeans. This is not an isolated case either... In Seoul, a 7 year sentence of a man accused of raping a woman was overturned, because she also was wearing very tight jeans. Another court case in Italy also dealt with a woman wearing tight jeans where supposedly the man could not have raped her without her consent. Fortunately, that case ended in the man being found guilty.

What does this mean? Let's think about this for moment... This means that rapists or perverts are now going to start targeting women with tight jeans because the courts are allowing it. This is a loophole for future rapists! OR perhaps others might say, women need to start wearing tight jeans, in order for them not to get raped? This is all nonsense! Women are not the ones with the problem here, rapists or perverts are to blame. Women should be able to wear any clothing that is appropriate in society. Do you ever hear of men getting raped because some of them wear their pants down to their crack? Why the double standard? Us women need to be aware and watch closely, so that this doesn't become a trend with courts in the USA!
