If You Live In Illinois, You Now Can Carry A Concealed Gun

Chicago, Illinois, is one of the most violent States in our union, when it comes to killings with guns. In fact, it probably is at the top of the list, for citizens with lethal weapons. 

The NRA scores again. This time in Illinois, where this last carry law was passed. It's no surprise. The NRA is one of the largest lobbying groups in our country. Let's just hope that the State will not allow lethal weapons in bars and other sensitive establishments. Common sense tells us that guns and alcohol are not a safe combination!

There is a question Women On Guard® has, regarding why many States that allow guns to be carried, don't allow a weapon such as a Taser.  A Taser is powerful enough for police to use it, but it's also non lethal. Yet, Illinois, doesn't allow their citizens to carry Tasers in Chicago! However, they are permitted to carry these units in other cities in the State with a valid conceal carry permit... I guess that will remain one of those mysteries of life or bad/corrupt judgements when it comes to allowing citizens to carry non lethal weapons. Maybe we should start a lobbying group similar to the NRA's, but call it the NTA!

The NRA Might Get Powerful Opposition

The NRA will soon have serious gun lobbying opposition in congress. Gabrielle Giffords and her husband are launching the "Americans for Responsible Solutions". This political action committee is being formed in the hopes of diminishing firearms presence in our country, by raising money to help lobby for more gun control, while at the same time opposing the NRA's strong lobbying efforts to place firearms in all American's hands.

Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly, will make an official announcement of their anti gun committee on ABC News. The announcement marks the second anniversary of the Tucson shooting that left 6 people dead and Gabrielle Giffords critically injured.

Gun Deaths in the United States Compared to the United Kingdom

This is the year 2011, not the time of the 1800's Wild, Wild West. But you wouldn't know it by counting the amount of people killed by guns in this country! Firearms are a big problem in the United States of America and we need to find a better solution.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) wants all Americans to own a gun and hence be safer. But unfortunately, having so many guns will not make us safer. Contrary to what the NRA mentions, it is actually making our country far more dangerous than we want to admit. Why? Because arming citizens with firearms is the wrong approach. Other countries have taken a different approach toward deadly crime by taking away firearms from their citizens. The results of this action have been astonishingly positive in the number of deaths related to guns. The NRA refers to laws that are archaic by nature, in order to justify American's carrying guns. Unlike the Wild, Wild West, today's civilization is perfectly able to deal with differences amongst it's citizens by going to courts where laws are enforced.

The United Kingdom does not allow it's citizens to carry firearms. Most of their police officers, except for a few, don't even carry guns! United Kingdom police officers rely mostly on Tasers for controlling crime. Due to this less deadly transition made by their police, the United Kingdom has far less citizen casualties than the United States does. In fact this is a trend happening in many civilized nations.

Below are some numbers that don't lie. These are figures taken from legit sources and they reflect some pretty amazing results.

How many more casualties should we withstand in our society before we learn and change our system?
