When WomenOnGuard.com launched its website in October 2006, they vowed to help in the prevention of violent crimes against women. WomenOnGuard.com donates 25 pepper spray products each month to a non-profit organization, which helps in the prevention and recovery of crimes committed against women.

Every month, the owners of the website http://WomenOnGuard.com donates 25 pepper spray products to an organization whose purpose is prevention and assistance in the war against violent crimes committed against women. Susan Eaton, co-principal of WomenOnGuard.com, states that, “Prevention is key. If we can assist in providing a means of self-protection to women, which will help in preventing such heinous crimes, that is a very small price for us to pay”.

The websites November recipient is the Rape Crisis Center, Brazos Valley in Bryan, Texas.

Another important issue to keep in mind during the holidays is the celebration parties. People will celebrate more often and it is very important that everyone is aware of who and where their drink is coming from. Do not leave your drink unattended. There are many date-rape drugs on the street.

Don't Become a Victim of Date Rape Drugs

With the Holidays approaching there will be more opportunities for women to get date raped. This is the time when there are large groups of people celebrating and probably when there is the most drinking of alcohol. The time when your guard is set aside and you just want to enjoy the festivities. DON'T let this happen! You can still enjoy but also be OnGuard. Below are some steps you can take to avoid these assaults:

1. Don't accept open drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) from others who you do not know or do not trust; this includes drinks that come in a glass.
2. When in bars or clubs always get your drink directly from the bartender and do not take your eyes off the bartender or your order; don't use the waitress or let somebody go to the bar for you.
3. At parties, only accept drinks in closed containers: bottles, cans or tetra packs.
4. Never leave your drink unattended or turn your back on your table.
5. Do not drink from open beverage sources like punch bowls, pitchers or tubs.
6. Keep your eyes and ears open; if there is talk of date rape drugs or if friends seem "too intoxicated" for what they have taken, leave the party or club immediately and don't go back.

If you still want to be even more cautious, there is a new system you can use to make sure your drink is safe called "Drink Safe Technology". Why Buy A Stun Gun?

Do you carry a stun gun or not? Why do you or don't you carry a stun gun or some sort of self defense product?
I purchased one back in 1988. Why? My reason was because I was riding the metro rail in Atlanta Georgia and did not feel safe without some sort of self defense product. Back then, I only weighed 110 lbs. and felt I could be an easy target for any stranger that would get too close to me. My main concern was walking 2 blocks to where my car was parked from the station. This was especially risky and very scary in the winter months when it was already dark by the time I left my job!
Fortunately I knew someone that knew about stun guns back then and I knew where to purchase one. Women and men now a days might know about stun guns too but have no idea where to buy one. Unfortunately our local superstores or discount stores don't carry them.

Should Hate Crime Law Include Women?

Why YES! Does a rapist assault a woman because he loves her? I don't think so!
The Senate passed the Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act back in Sept. 27, 2007. The Act covers you if you are a victim of violence because of your race, color, religion, or national origin. It allows federal investigators to assist you in case the local authorities will not or can not intervene. President George W. Bush stated that he will veto the legislation. I don't know if he has done so yet or not.

The National Organization for Women wants to expand the Act to cover women and I agree! Women are sexually assaulted constantly by men that HATE them. It probably is the most COMMON HATE CRIME EVER! I commend the NOW organization for pointing this out. Women should get federal assistance if the local authorities do not want to intervene or will not if a woman is sexually assaulted simply because she is a woman. I think "sexual assault" is the key word here because if she is assaulted for her jewelry, that can apply to men also. The focus here is, I think, the violent sexual act that targets mostly women in this world.
