Advantages of Non Lethal Weapons

Guns and other lethal weapons are being focused upon by Americans lately. It is no surprise, considering the Colorado fatalities and the increase of mass shootings in our country. But with all the talk about firearms and the shootings in Colorado, nobody has mentioned the non lethal means of defending ourselves with alternative products.

When you think about police all over the world using Tasers, more than guns, it kind of makes you wonder if the fascination over firearms is overrated. There is a reason why police have chosen non lethal means, and civilians should also consider that weapons such as these, are just as effective in controlling assault crimes as fatal ones are. The most important aspect of alternative defense is that nobody gets killed and you are less likely to end up in jail, when you defend yourself or your family.

Non lethal weapons come in all sizes and shapes. You have your basic pepper spray that was used by ancient Chinese armies, hundreds of years ago, to the more sophisticated, powerful Citizen Tasers, that are used today. Plus all the other in-between non lethal self defense items, such as stun guns that come disguised as batons, cell phones and even lipstick! All of these devices are very effective in preventing crime.

Of course, the most powerful non lethal product on the market for civilians is the citizen Tasers. They are just like the ones police use, except that they reach a distance of 15 feet, versus 30. Below are some, not all, of the benefits of these units over firearms. They are priced higher than the above mentioned weapons, but similar to what you would pay for a decent gun.

Taser C2 in Electric Blue Color
Tasers C2, M26c and X26c
  • Non lethal
  • Laser aiming
  • Automatic continual shocking mode (just place on the ground and escape)
  • Stun gun backup (if more than one attacker is present)
  • FREE replacement of Taser (by the manufacturer, if stolen and police record of incident is available)
  • No permit required in most States
  • Flashlight (LED)
  • No kickback, won't pull you back when used
  • No messy cleaning of powder

Self defense doesn't always have to end with someone dying. Colorado citizens, shouldn't go out in masses to purchase firearms because of the shootings. It doesn't matter in which State you happen to live in, your home doesn't have to include a dangerous firearm near your children. Non lethal means is the best way to deter crime and have a clear conscience as well.

Massive Killings are Rampant in the USA

It seems like every other day in the USA, deranged or disgruntled men kill not just one, but a few people and then kill themselves with a gun. The latest is a man in Seattle, that killed 5 and afterwards himself. This occurred last Wednesday.

Massive killings like these were not common in the past. When someone killed several people, the media reported it. So the excuse of having more communication in this day and age, doesn't apply in shooting cases. We have a problem with guns in this country and we need to do something about it! Unless a country is in war, you rarely hear about shootings abroad. The only country that comes close to our ratings is Mexico, due to it's drug wars.

These massive killings are usually not related to drugs, but to mental illness or simply anger. Men are killing with weapons, their wives, children and randomly including others that just happen to be in the way! Anger could have derived from lack of employment, self esteem, jealousy or any other situation, including mental illness, for these men. Again, these unstable situations also existed in the past, without someone shooting others.

The reason for most of these shootings is the lack of control our country has over guns or any other sort of lethal weapon. We need to tackle the problem by placing stricter qualifications for a person to purchase a weapon. Having people running around killing each other, is not what the USA should be like. We deserve a safer country.

Alabama University, Professor Amy Bishop, Has Priors

Universities are not only having shootings now from students, but also from professors too! It seems like professors as well as students will have to go through metal detectors now. What a shame...

By looking at Amy Bishop's photo, you would think she was a humble quiet woman and not the violent criminal that is being exposed. Initially news reports surfaced prior information about her killing her brother. That 1986 crime was declared by authorities as an accidental death. Now it has been discovered that she also was a suspect in a mail bombing threat against a Harvard Medical School professor in 1993. Looks can definitely be deceiving!

How could a person with 2 previous criminal suspicions become a professor at a university? A person that definitely should be a role model for our children, should have had a background check done before getting hired. Do universities give background checks to potential professors? Why was there not a red flag raised when her background was checked? Assuming it was checked, did they just ignore the results? I'm sure authorities will discover more clues in her past that lead her to commit this most recent horrible crime.
